Text-to-Speech

Clicker Writer can speak words back to you in a realistic voice. This provides useful feedback, draws attention to mistakes, and helps with punctuation choice.

We've collaborated with worldwide speech experts Acapela Group to produce tailor-made children's voices that sound clear and authentic.

You can also use the standard Google voices provided with Chrome OS.

Document

By default, sentences are spoken automatically when punctuated.

To speak the Document from the text cursor position, click in the toolbar. To speak everything, move the text cursor to the beginning/end of your writing.

Right-click

To speak these items, right-click them:

Predictor and Spell Check suggestions.
Cells in a Clicker Set.
The Grid Tools.

To right-click using your device's touchpad, tap with two fingers.

If your device has a touch screen, you can tap with two fingers, or long-tap with one.

Sound Shift

When Sound Shift is enabled, you can speak the above items with a normal click (instead of right-click).

It also provides more ways to speak Document text:

To speak a sentence, double-click it.
To speak a paragraph, triple-click it.

To enable Sound Shift, click (once for single use; double-click to keep it enabled).
