Word Bank

A Word Bank provides tabbed vocabulary support.

 

Each grid contains words/phrases sorted by topic or alphabetically.

 

The objective is to provide inspiration, guidance, and a reference point for spelling/pronunciation.

Create/Open

To create a new Word Bank, click  , choose New Clicker Set, and then Word Bank.

 

To open a Word Bank from your device or cloud storage, click  and choose My Files.

Run View

To quickly edit a cells content while in run view click a cell while holding the shift key on your keyboard.

 

Pressing enter will end the editing of the cell.

 

Pressing tab will move onto the next cell so that it can be edited.

Edit View

To enter Edit View at any time, click  Edit Clicker Set.

 

The grids in the Word Bank are listed in the left sidebar. Click a grid to select it.

 

The selected grid and its settings are displayed on the right.

Grid Name

Type in the top box to change the grid's name (used to label the grid's tab).

Words

Type your words into this box (or paste in text copied from elsewhere). They will appear as cells in the preview below.

 

To include multiple words in one cell, surround them with brackets, e.g. (orange juice).

 

A grid can contain up to 24 word cells.

Cells

Choose the cell layout:

  • Standard

  • Maximise Height - cells are easier to see and click.

  • 1st Cell Across Top - useful for including a title or sentence starter.

To change the ordering of your words, click the Order box:

  • Alpha - words are ordered alphabetically (in rows or columns).

  • Random - words are shuffled randomly each time the grid is viewed.

  • Fixed - words stay in the supplied order.

To limit the number of columns, click the Columns box (this may limit the number of displayed words).

Appearance

To automatically populate word cells with pictures (where available), click  above the grid and choose either  Picturize with CrickPix or  Picturize with Widgit Symbols.

 

To change the grid's background, click the  colour picker (above the grid preview).

Edit a Cell

Click an individual cell to select it. This will outline it in red and show different settings.

 

To change the cell's text, type in the top box.

 

To add or change its picture, click:

 

 Browse: 

  • CrickPix2 - our library containing 4500+ pictures. You'll automatically see search results based on the cell's text. To browse the full library instead, click Clear.
  • Widgit Symbols - you'll automatically see search results based on the cell's text. To browse the full library instead, click Clear.
  • My Pictures - browse your device for pictures.

 Photo - take a photo.

 

 Remove - clear the current picture.

 

To adjust the picture, zoom with the slider bar and drag to reposition.

 

To change the cell's background, click the  colour picker (above the grid preview).

 

To deselect the cell, click Grid (above grid preview).

Add Grids

To add a new blank grid, click  in the left sidebar and choose Add New Grid.


To automatically generate grids from text, click Add Multiple Grids:

  • Topic Grids - a grid will be created for each paragraph of words. To ensure your text is organised correctly, read the help text in the box before typing.

  • Alphabetic Grids - words will be sorted into a set of A-Z grids.

Type your words into the box. Click Paste to add text copied from elsewhere.

 

To display multiple words in one cell, surround them with brackets e.g. (orange juice). This lets you include sentence starters or writing frames.

 

To make the Word Bank more topic specific, you can Exclude the 100 most common English words.

 

Click Create Grids to finish.

Arrange Grids

To arrange your grids, click Edit:

  • To change a grid's position in the list, drag its  handle.

  • To delete a grid, click its  icon, and then click Delete.

Click Done to finish.

Apply Settings to All Grids

Click this in the left sidebar to apply the current grid's settings to all grids in the Word Bank.

Go

To start using your new Word Bank, click  .

 

Click a cell to send its content to the Document above. To hear it spoken first, right-click it (you can also use Sound Shift).

 

Use the tabs above the Word Bank to move between grids.
